This image is one of 3
snapped seconds apart near Port Arthur Tasmania - Australia.
While this little Echidna crosses the road I rush to the other side and
take up a photo
position. While squatted, I started snapping away and to my amazement
this little
creature as soon as it walked off the road headed straight to me.
As if it was my pet dog and I'd called it by name. It got so close
I couldn't focus
on it anymore. I took my eye away from the lens and wondered where it
was.
I looked behind me thinking it would have passed me. I couldn't see it
anywhere.
The next few moments were to become one of the most special experiences
of my life.
I looked down to the ground to find this little Echidna resting against
my ankle.
It was incredible. Excitedly I called out to my friend to have a look.
With this, the small creature moved off and commenced burrowing nearby.
What a moment! Why did it do that? All I could think of was that it must
have thought
I was a stump, because I was silhouetted and still. Anyway it was one
experience I feel privileged to have had.
