Close up Quills of an Echidna. Seen crossing the Eyre Hwy - Nullarbor Plain Australia.
As a protective measure, this little animal rolled itself up in a ball in the middle of
the road. I could hear a truck coming, so with a thick blanket I gently carried it to the
side of the road. I was hoping it would realise I wanted to take it's photo and it
would unroll accordingly. But alas there it stayed. Gradually I found myself
mesmerised by the texture and pattern of it's beautiful quills.

Dictionary Description of Echidna:
A spiny insectivorous egg laying mammal with long
snout and claws, native to Australia and New Guinea
